HRAAP appeals to President Mohamed Hosny Mubarak To Interfere To Release 65 Detained Lawyers

  The human rights association for the assistance of prisoners (HRAAP) appeals to president Mohamed Hosny Mubarak to interfere to release 65 detained lawyers according to Emergency Law, which gives authorities to Minister of Interior to detain anyone just on the allegation of suspecting him of committing a crime in future.

So, successive detention decisions were issued against those lawyers and that resulted that some of them spent more than 16 years in the Egyptian prisons till now without any trial. Although they got tens of rulings of release the ministry of Interior kept issuing new decisions of detention after spending period in one of cells of the police station or in the central security, and insists not to release them.

HRAAP considers the refusal of enforcing the rulings of the Egyptian judiciary to release those detained lawyers a flagrant violation to the sanctity of these rulings and a loss to the principle of separation between authorities, where this makes the enforcement authority a dominating to the judicial authority and a wasting to the dignity of these ruling.

Accordingly, The human rights association for the assistance of prisoners (HRAAP) appeals to president Mohamed Hosny Mubarak to interfere in person to release those detained lawyers, on behalf of elevating the sanctity, respect and dignity of the Egyptian judiciary, and respecting the Egyptian human right to enjoy his all rights. That is if the state is really serious to have a political and democratic reform.
