HRAAP will start its first training course for lawyers, entitled “The Right to Have a Safe Body”, on Thursday 15/1/2004, that will last for two days during the year 2004 with the co-operation of Bar Syndicate and under the auspices of Mr. Sameh Aashour “representative of lawyers and head of Arab Lawyers Unity”.
These training courses are specified for lawyers from all regions of Cairo. Also, HRAAP decided to organize some of these courses out of Cairo to enable lawyers from other regions to benefit from them and to achieve the aim of this training in an equal way among lawyers of different parts of Egypt. It is worthy saying that the lecturers in these courses are a selection of masters in law, legal medicine, human rights activists and specialists in psychological and legal medicine.
These courses aim at providing the trainees with legal and legislative information concerning to the right to have a safe body, in addition to the international provisions that assert this right, and to what extent this right is practiced and applied under the Egyptian legal and judicial system. Moreover, these courses aim at providing the trainees with some practical experiences about the way of fact-finding and monitoring concerning to the violation of this right.
