HRAAP Campaign against torture

Hand in Hand

Egypt without torture

                                                                                           Cairo in ‏7/2/2004

Postponing the trial of the police officers of Alexandria to a session in 9/3/2004 and postponing the trial of the revolutionary communists organization to a session in 7/2/2004

The criminal court in Alex decided to postpone the case No. 623 “total” Alex 2001 to 7/2/2004 to resume hearing the defense of the suspects.

In today’s session, the court has listened to the defense of the first, second and the third suspect.

This trial comes after the decision of the Public Attorney to refer the suspect officers to the criminal court, accusing them of forgery and torturing a citizen called Mohammed Badr Al Dein Gomaa, who was forced to confess to killing his daughter by the police officers in Al Montzah.

This trial comes after waiting for about 5 years of issuing the verdict of the court in 1998 to refer the papers to the public prosecution to investigate in a case of torture, although this session was specified for trying 6 police offices of 12, who were supposed to be referred to the criminal court according to the decision of the Public Attorney.

Also, the criminal court in Cairo decided to review the case No. 6187, 2003 Abdien criminal, which is registered by No. 603, 2003 total Cairo center, registered by No. 809, 2003 audited by the High State Security, registered by No. 128, 2003 Criminal High State Security which is known as the case of the “revolutionary communists” to a session in 7/2/2004 to submit the report of the programming expert.
