HRAAP attains a compensation verdict for a detainee who underwent torture
Within the framework of the HRAAP campaign against torture, it could attain a judicial verdict of compensation for one of the political prisoners who experienced torture during a period of detention that exceeded six years.

In April 14, 2004, Division 22 for compensations, South Cairo Court, issued its verdict regarding the two claims No. 18617, 17642/120, one of them raised by Hamdy Mahmoud Abdullateef Omarah against Minister of Interior, in his capacity, and the other from the Egyptian Minister of Interior against our client. The court accepted the two appeals formally and refused it objectively and supporting the first instance issued in 25/10/2003 from district No. 25 compensations of high court in Cairo in case No. 1713/2003 for compensation of 7000 L.E, because of the material and moral damage that resulted from being tortured while in the detention period in the Egyptian prisons from 8/12/1992 till 18/11/1993. It is noteworthy that the plaintiff was issued against him many repeated detention decisions till he was released in July 1998.

Additionally, the aforementioned person was afflicted with much harm whether because of detention or torture; he was afflicted with Hemiplegia, Enuresis and he was dismissed from his job because of his absence for a long time, let alone restricting his freedom.
