| Cairo criminal court adjourns the trial of a police officer in Bab Al She'reya on suspicion of torturing a citizen to death to be judged on January 17, 2005 |
| On December 20, 2004 cairo criminal court adjourns the trial of the police officer Ahmed Salah Darwish on suspicion of torturing a citizen to death to be judged on January 17, 2005, after the Cassation court accepted his appeal against his the sentence conviction and five years in prison issued from Cairo criminal court in court circuit 19 on May 21, 2003 in felony No. 711/1 in 2003 in Bab Al She'reya felonies and registered under No. 33/2003 in which the suspects are the major Ihab Maher Ali Al Hefnawy, head of investigations of Bab Al She'reya police station and the major Ahmed Salah Darwish, investigations assistant, of torturing the victim to death, as the court acquitted the first suspect and condemned the second one to five years in prison and obligated him to pay the legal fees. The incidents dates back from March 23, 2001 to April 8, 2001 where the two suspects were condemned of torturing the victim Mohamed Al Husseiny Imam Mohamed condemned in cases No. 2152, 2100, 2322/2001 Bab Al She'reya felonies, 2785/2001 Al Darb Al Ahmar, 2884/2001 Abdeen and 1524/2001 Al Daher. In addition to assaulting on him with a whip in addition to using electric shocks which resulted in stopping his the blood and breathe circulation which led to his death reportedly in the autopsy report. The case was referred to the court in session of April 19, 2003 and adjourned till summoning the witnesses in session of May 17, 2003 and in this session the witnesses and the complainants defense of the civil right and suspects defense were heard, and after consideration the case was adjourned to be judged as the previous sentence was issued which has been appealed by the second suspect before Cassation court which accepted the appeal and referred it to a new court circuit to be retried in September 18, 2004 and it was adjourned to today's session where the above-mentioned decision has been issued.
