HRAAP appeals to the Excellency of President Mohammed Husny Mubarak to release 55 Egyptian and Palestinian detained for participating in the Palestinian Intifada

Now, they are going on hunger strike   

HRAAP appeals to President/ Mohammed Husny Mubarak to release 55 Egyptian and Palestinian detained since 2000 for participating in the Palestinian Intifada and supporting the Palestinians. They were attained in accordance with the Emergency Law. Since then, the 55 detainees are still being detained in Al-Gharbaneyat prison in Burg Al-Arab, Alex. Although they have had many release orders, new detention decisions are being issued against them after their detention for a period of time in Kom El-Dekka police station in Alex. They are now experiencing severe health and living conditions in detention, as some of them are suffering from serious illnesses. As a result, they are going now on hunger strike. Taking into consideration that some them suffer from dangerous diseases threaten their lives. This is considered a flagrant violation to the constitution and the Egyptian law and the international covenants ratified by Egypt and became binding covenants according to the constitution.

All of these violations are simultaneous with the regular extermination of Palestinians at the hands of Sharon’s racist government.

Accordingly, HRAAP appeals to President Mohammed Husny Mubarak to release the Egyptian and Palestinian detainees and guarantee their protection, especially as they include people whose lives are at risk in Palestine.
