In a human disaster in all measures, three persons have died and other nineteen one have chocked after they strayed more than 12 hours in two vehicles while transferring them from Marsa Matrouh city to Al Khalifa prison the day before yesterday.

The victims are belonging to 80 persons have been arrested at the hand of the Libyan authority because of getting into Libya illegally and the attempt to travel to Italy. After they have been extradited to the Egyptian authorities, they have been transferred to Marsa Matrouh in two lorries that carry 40 persons. Because of the hot weather in the way from Marsa Matrouh to Alexandria and then to Cairo through the desert road, and in spite of the invocations and screams of the prisoners to be salved from this tragedy,   none paid attention to them. Suddenly, when guards opened the doors of the lorries in Al Khalifa prison they found the prisoners in a state of vehement suffocation and then they have been delivered to Al Khalifa, Ahmed Maher and Al Hussein university hospital and during the first aids Ahmed Mohamed Ibrahim, Ashraf Abdel Ghaffar Ateyya and Mohamed Ibrahim Al Bendary have died as a result sharp decline in blood circulation  as a result of bad ventilation in the lorries.

It is worth mentioning that HRAAP warned, through the annual and periodical reports, of the harsh and humiliating circumstances that prisoners and detainees are exposed to whether in different detention centers or during transfer form prison to another in a way do not conform to any rules or humanitarian principles, that is what the Ministry of Interior ignored and do not make an effort to improve these conditions earnestly as the outcome of this ignorance was this flagrant disaster and many others that we can not expect as long as these circumstances continued as it is now.

HRAAP appeals the Attorney General to begin an open and immediate investigation to punish all perpetrators and each one involved in this human crime directly or indirectly to prove that the Egyptian citizen’s life is still valuable and there is who defend it.
