In The International Day for fighting AIDS

The Human Rights Association For The Assistance Of Prisoners (HRAAP)Calls the Egyptian government to declare the true number of the diseased people with AIDS .Also, the (HRAAP) asks The  Ministry Of Interiors and The Ministry Of Health to take the necessary measurements to stop the spread of the disease inside the Egyptian prisons .

            The Whole world celebrates international day for fighting AIDS” Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome “today as the diseased with AIDS are about 40 million  persons in addition to 3 millions that had died also of AIDS .The statistics of the World Health Organization prove that the number of the diseased in The Middle East  and  North Africa is between 470000 and 730000 , in addition to other cases reached about 67000 .The World Health Organization clarified the causes of this disease that are the sexual intercourses between the diseased ,infected blood transfusion either by direct transfusion or by using medical instruments that are infected with AIDS. Furthermore, the officials of the Egyptian national program for fighting AIDS reported that about 1155 cases have been traced (diseased with AIDS )420 foreigners ,735 Egyptians and 350 died .

            On the other hand , The World Health Organization fears that the number of the diseased may be more than what has been reported .This is because people in the world and in The Middle East and North Africa in

particular don’t admit being diseased. This handicaps solving the problem properly .

            In this frame, the (HRAAP) appeals the Egyptian government to

tell about the real number of the diseased and to take the necessary measurements in terms of facts .Within this frame, the (HRAAP) asks the Ministry of Interiors and the Ministry of Health to examine the prisoners in the Egyptian prisons as the living conditions and the medical care are not available for those prisoners. Also, the (HRAAP) Appeals the Ministry Of Interiors to prevent the prisoners from taking drugs ,especially the drugs taken by injection in order to stop the infection.

            The homosexual intercourses is considered to be one of the main causes of this disease , so the (HRAAP) appeals the Ministry of Interiors and the Egyptian legislator to reconsider the Egyptian penal system and the philosophy of penalty in Egypt, in accordance to this problem and on the universal level in a way, that enables the prisoners to be in contact with their relatives outside prisons, in order to make them qualified to live properly and positively in the society .It is preferable to guarantee the prisoners to practice their marital rights in a regular way, organized by the Authority of Prisons .This will prevent the prisoners from sexual deviation, and consequently to prevent them from this serious disease by this way.
